In the latest in our “RSC Staff Analysis” publication series, Dr. Haykak Arshamyan examines the agendas of Armenia’s various political parties. In the article, published in Armenian and entitled, “Integration processes on the agenda of Armenian political parties,” Arshamyan argues that “the agendas of political forces in Armenia are mostly formed not on the basis of specific ideology (liberalism, conservatism, nationalism etc.), but are dependent on existing political, regional and geopolitical developments.”
Arshamyan contends that Armenian “political parties are acting not only according to their internal interests, strategic vision and/or external challenges, but in many cases are positioning themselves in a box of political conformism,” where “even parties based on liberalism can easily change their position on various internal and external developments.” The article, as the author notes, “is an assessment of recent developments in Armenian politics in the context of current integration processes and ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2017.”
