RSC SPECIAL BRIEFING ON IRAN

RSC SPECIAL BRIEFING ON IRAN

In the latest in a monthly series of analytical briefings, the Regional Studies Center (RSC) held a special briefing focused on the recent unrest in Iran and assessing the wider implications for Armenia and the South Caucasus region on 22 January 2026, with RSC Director Richard Giragosian presenting an assessment of recent developments in Iran.

This briefing was attended by the Swedish and Swiss Ambassadors, along with diplomatic staff from the Embassies of Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Italy, Japan Poland, Serbia, and the United States, as well as from the European Union Delegation in Armenia.  Additional participants included representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the United Nations, and from academia.

As an independent “think tank,” the Regional Studies Center (RSC) offers this regular series of analytical briefings to present a concise and comprehensive assessment of the most significant political, economic and military/security developments in Armenia and the South Caucasus region.  With a target audience of representatives of the diplomatic community and international organizations in Armenia, the format of this briefing series consists of an informal “off-the-record” and closed discussion, reflecting our aim of providing an alternative source of objective analysis.
