The Regional Studies Center (RSC) convened the latest in the monthly series of analytical briefings on 26 September, focusing on recent developments in Armenia and the wider South Caucasus region.
RSC Director Richard Giragosian presented an assessment of recent developments in Armenian foreign policy, with a specific analysis of the implementation of the breakthrough diplomatic agreement with Azerbaijan, the outlook for Armenia-Türkiye “normalization,” and a review of the Armenian strategy of “diversification” and related issues, including Armenian relations with both Russia and the European Union.
Additional topics include a review of domestic politics, with an analysis of the recent election of a new governing board of the ruling “Civil Contract” of Prime Minister Pashinyan and predictive analysis of the coming parliamentary elections set for June 2026 in Armenia.
This briefing was attended by the Ambassador to Armenia from Brazil, along with diplomatic staff from the Embassies of Belgium, Canada, Japan, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States, as well as from the European Union Delegation in Armenia. Additional participants included representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the United Nations.
Two separate online sessions of this briefing are also scheduled for 29 and 30 September, with confirmed participants from Ankara, Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Tbilisi and Washington.
As an independent “think tank,” the Regional Studies Center (RSC) offers this regular series of analytical briefings to present a concise and comprehensive assessment of the most significant political, economic and military/security developments in Armenia and the South Caucasus region. With a target audience of representatives of the diplomatic community and international organizations in Armenia, the format of this briefing series consists of an informal “off-the-record” and closed discussion, reflecting our aim of providing an alternative source of objective analysis.
The PowerPoint presentation notes from the briefing are attached.
